<html> topics 6 and 7

Assignment

Read the materials required for topics 6 and 7. If you do not have the text books yet, use the material posted on the web. You can disregard references to the "submission" for each of those topics since you will do this assignment instead.

Revise the page that you posted for last week's assignment.

  • Use a table to create margins on the page so that your text does not stretch across the entire screen.

Put the section of the page that describes your "intended audience" into a nested table. You can use a border to show the grid line like this or define border=0 so the lines are invisible.

  • Then do one of the following options to add images to your assignment page:

Option 1: [If you know what graphics you want to use in your web project for the class, do this assignment.]

On the homework page you posted earlier, in that section about "Graphics I intend to include," add a thumbnail (miniature) of your selected graphic with a link to a page with the graphic itself, sized as you plan to use it in your project. Do this with one or more of the graphics you intend to use. For each graphic be sure that you include an "alt" tag and a specified size.

Option 2: [If you have not yet selected graphics for your project or cannot upload them this week, do this assignment.]

Select one of the free pictures available for noncommercial use from NASA at http://oposite.stsci.edu/pubinfo/pictures.html and insert it on the web page you posted for last week's homework. Or select a graphic from one of the sites listed in the "Readings" link listed below. Add a thumbnail (miniature) of the graphic to the homework page itself with a heading "Graphic for Assignment 6" and link the thumbnail to another page with the graphic itself. For each graphic be sure that you include in your code an "alt" tag and a specified size.

Whether you do Option 1 or 2, continue planning your web project.
